IED:

 

SSA ensures that every child with special need, irrespective of the kind, category and degree of disability, is provided meaningful and quality education. Hence,  SSA has adopted a zero rejection policy. This means that child having special needs should be deprived of the right to the education.

Under Integrated Education for Disabled Children special attention is to be given to education of CWSN with an objective to integrate the   handicapped with the general community at all levels as equal partners to pre pear them for normal growth and to enable them to face   life with courage and  confidence. Integrated education for the CWSN purports to provide educational opportunities for the disabled children in

common schools, to facilitate their retention in the school system. The CWSN who are placed in special school should also be integrated in common school once they aquire the communication and daily living skills at the functional level.

Sarva  shiksha Abhiyan means “Education for All” which ensures the education for all kind of children including the children with special needs with whatever the category and degree of disability. It also that no child having special needs should be deprived of the right to education.

Under IEDC, special attention been given to education of CWSN with in objective to integrate them with the general community as equal partners to enable than to face life with courage and confidence. Integrated education for the CWSN supports to provide education opportunities for the disabled children in common schools to facilitate their retention in school system.

TEACHERS     TRANING (IED)

a)     One day induction training :-

There was a module on inclusive education for one whole day and by this module these following main areas was covered-

·   Concept of  integrated and inclusive education

·    Identification of all disabled children with the check list   

·    Teaching methodology for CWSN . 

b)      5 day training of teachers:-

This training was also being  conducted at  block level  in the district .145 teachers were trained in five phases from  each block with the support of  DIET .The main  objective of  this training is to orient them about  Inclusive education ,special  education, salient  features of CWSN ,  identification of  CWSN enrollment of CWSN in general schools , TLM of  CWSN ,various provisions and ‘Acts’ on  disability etc.

c)     90 days foundation course:-

Madhya Pradesh bhoj  Open University (MPBOU), Bhopal has conducted this foundation course through distance mode .28 teachers of elementary schools have completed this course .This course comprise of elementary school have completed this course. This course comprises of two contact programmers for 14 and 7days respectively .thereafter, written/oral examinations were conducted. The course of this training includes 5 papers on different topics related to education of CWSN .The trainees also have to practice 20 lesson plans along with experience of community based rehabilitation. After successful completion a certificate is awarded to the teachers by MPBOU.

d)    Multi category  Training:-

7 days multi category and RTE based training organized by Rajay shiksha Kendra  from 04-12-2010 to 10-12-2010 .2MRC and DIET IED  in charge  participated  in the training .The training was focus on identification of CWSN  and their mainstreaming as per RTE Norms.

e)     Resource room:-

Resource room have been setup in DIET .This resource room is equipped with different aids and appliances and special TLM for CWSN (CAT EGO-VI,HI,OL,LD,and MR).This resource room  is  being  used as a training  resource center  during various IED training .DIET lecturers have been trained to use these aids and appliances for CWSN under PGPD  course. Resource room will be further strengthened for training of all CRC and disability wise specific training to parents of CWSN.  

 

Some materials of resource room are as follows:-

For Visually impaired children:-Braille writer ,Braille papers talking book and cassette recorders ,Goggles-cum-spectacles, vision testing charts ,long cane folding sticks ,counting devices ,special lamps etc.

For Hearing impaired children:-portable  audiometer, portable speech trainer, group hearing  aids ,loop induction system , individual hearing aids, tape recorder with blank cassettes, ear mould  laboratory etc .

For orthopedic impaired children:- Adjustable furniture, thick pens, wheel chairs ,crutches, calipers,  etc.

 

For  Learning Disabled children:- overhead projector ,tape  recorders, clock (Time perception),worksheets, workbook pictures boards charts slides education toys sand slates blocks & models of letters numerals .

For mentally retarded  children:-a few test materials like the ravens progressive matrices Indian adaptation of Wechsler intelligence scale for children stand fort –  binate  test & other Indian  tests will be made available at the block level for testing the mental ability of children . Simples protective test will also be made available .the resource room preparation is in progress at present.

Key Function of Resource Room:-

Ø      Pre integration skills to CWSN

Ø      Remedial teaching

Ø      Training of teachers

Ø      Parental counseling

Ø      Community training

Ø      Teaching use of basic equipment

Ø      Joint problem solving between the resource teacher & the general teacher.

Ø      Preparation of teaching learning material by resource teacher
