ECCE
Early
childhood :-
“Early childhood” under
Early childhood care & education (ECCE) refers to the
age of 0 to 8 years this include the stages of infancy
the pri-school &the early primary years in Indian
context however according to the national policy of
education
(1986) “Early childhood” refers specifically to the
age of 0 to 6 years.
Significance
of ECCE:-
The early year of children
constitute the most significant period of in life
because this is when the foundation laid for motor
sensory cognitive language social & personality
development pri-school learning & Early childhood care
are considered to be the crucial inputs in improving
the enrolment &participation of children in formal
schooling this is time of opportunity where even small
positive inputs may generate long- term social
benefits.
Need and
important of ECCE:-
The first six year of an
individual life are crucial year as development /
growth take place in this period at its most raped
pace these are formative year for attitudes habit
value & adjustment the impression formed at this stage
may last forever Early childhood is the foundation on
which children built the rest of their lives the child
gets stimulating environment at ECE center ECCE
ensures proper overall development of the child it
help in increasing enrolment it has an impact on the
child school achievement and grade placement it help
in attaining the goal of universalisation & education.
National Policy of
education-
The npe 1986 has given a
great deal of importance to ECCE, it has reviewed ECCE
as an important input in the strategy of human
resource development as a feeder and supporter
programmer for primary education &as support service
for working women of the disadvantage section of
society it has also cautioned against the dangers of
using formal method of teaching & introduction of the
3R’s reading writing &arithmetic at the early stage.
The program of
action (POA) 1992 :-
It has suggested
qualitative & quantitative expansion & strengthening
of ECCE programmers in the country to the covered 70%
of the tar gate group (children in the age group 0-6
years) should be covered by holistic ECCE programmers
by 2000 AD.
The Ramamurti
committee:-
It has recommended that
the scope of the article 45 be enlarged to include in
the minimum ECCE & ECCE should be include in the
minimum need programmers of the government it has
recommended programmatic & physical linkage with the
primary school.
The national
curriculum framework 2005:-
NCF 2005 emphasis on the
importance of 2 year of ECCE & states that experiences
provided during the pri school year play a very
crucial role in the development of the child
personality and have strong bearing open later
education of children ECCE requires that young
children be provided care opportunities and
experiences that lead to their all-round development
physical mental social emotional and school readiness
it must be based on the holistic perspective taking
into account the characteristics of children at each
sub-stage and their learning need in terms of
experiences.
The tenth 5-year
plan:-
It acknowledges ECCE as
the first step in the education ladder and reaffirms
its priority for the human resource development of the
country it also commits to strengthening the early
joyful period of play & learning in a yang child life
towards ensuring a harmonious transition from the
family environment to the primary school.
Sarva shiksha
abhiyan:-
SSA aims at
universalisation of elementary education it also
acknowledge the importance of ECCE for quality
elementary education & provides strengthening of the
pri-school component in ICDS building advocacy for
importance of early child development ,organizing of
training programmer and capacity building of anganwadi
warblers and teachers.Effoorts are on to provide
universal access to ECCE to all the children in 0-6
year age group.
Role of DIET :-
Under the sarve shiksha
abhiyan shishu shiksha keadrs” were established by
RGPSM to provide ECE,after the change in policy these
centers were merged with anganwadis” under the
department of WCD,financial support has been provided
to AWS for quality ECE programmer.
During jan.
2011commissiner RSK decided to conduct a training
programmer for 200 AWWS of selected districts .2master
trainers were prepared from diet-Bhopal, programmer
was successfully conducted and target was achieved
with the time limit
IT was another successful
programmer reflected from the feedback give by trained
arganwadi workers
